Nikis Square in Kozani (Participation) 2010

Participation in architectural competition 2010. The Nikis Square is the most important central public space in the urban landscape of Kozani. It is a centre of everyday social activities, cultural and political assemblies and festivities. The proposal attempts to configure the square as an open-plan unified space so that it can function as an urban landmark, recognizable by the citizens. The architectural idea of the design proposed configures a fluid background that adapts to the existing urban terrain by making use of inclined planes around a central reference point.
